About

Jeff Overlie (b. 1968, Fort Collins, Colorado) lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico and southern California. His work is informed by his background in marine biology and influenced by his grandfather, a scientist. Overlie works primarily in sculpture and painting, with a focus on geometry, mathematics, and spatial relationships. His paintings often respond to and challenge traditional color theory, combining colors in ways that intentionally deviate from established rules while maintaining a sense of balance and energy.

Overlie has exhibited his work in solo exhibitions including Glitch://Life at Marc Straus, New York (2025) and Block Theory at William Turner Gallery, Santa Monica (2024). His work has also been included in group exhibitions at venues such as Art Basel Miami, The Armory Show in New York, and the Palm Springs Fine Art Fair. In addition to his exhibition history, Overlie has completed numerous public and corporate commissions throughout Santa Fe and other U.S. cities. He has taught sculpture and related subjects at Santa Fe Community College (2008–2019) and Santa Barbara City College (1990–1995).
