About

Zlatan Vehabović (b. 1982 Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina) lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia. Vehabović is probably the most highly regarded young artist in Croatia, having won the First Prize for Zagreb Salon 2010, the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) Award 2010, as well as an Essl Award in 2007, (Emerging Artists in Southeast Europe) 2010, and with a solo exhibition in 2011 at the Lauba Museum in Zagreb, and inclusion in many important group exhibitions.

Vehabović earned his Ph.D. in painting from the vaunted Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, and has taken the slow road, embracing the great painting history of Western Europe, where technique and paint application matter. Up close, these works are lush, mature, and powerful.

Vehabović received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Croatia. Recent solo exhibitions include Marc Straus, New York, NY (2024); Urania, Zagreb, Croatia (2023); DIT Gallery, Vienna, Austria (2023, traveling to several museums in Croatia); Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik, Croatia (2019); and Art Pavilion, Zagreb, Croatia (2018). Selected group exhibitions include Marc Straus, New York, USA (2024); University Gallery, Split, Croatia (2023); Revoltella Museum, Trieste, Italy (2022); Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb, Croatia (2021 and 2019).
